Triumph GroupJob Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer Cost Estimator at Triumph Geared Solutions Macomb prepares an operational sequence and manufacturing methods while providing technical support to the sales department for bids and proposals.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Develop, prepare, and maintain manufacturing process routings, drawings, and tool sheets for new bids and proposals
- Identify quality performance improvements by identifying the variations in the process
- Identify cost reductions to support the business performance for new and follow on business
- Work closely with Pricing & Proposals, Contracts, Business Development, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to meet customer expectations
- Provide input on the design of tooling, gaging, and fixtures to support the manufacturing process instructions
- Maintain good working relationships with customers
- Support the development of "should cost" for Triumph's supply base
- Develop quotations for components
- Support PPAP, MPC, PFMEA and SPC activities as required
- Use problem solving tools in driving to root cause and developing corrective actions
- Lead continuous improvement teams focused on future bids and proposals
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering and/or a minimum of three years' experience in gears and gearbox manufacturing
- In depth knowledge of aircraft gear and housing manufacturing processes or similar precision part manufacturing
- Working knowledge of special processes such as NDT, heat treating, plating, coatings, painting, and shot peening
- Ability to enter information into an ERP system
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to use AutoCAD and Inventor is a plus
- Able to work efficiently with minimal supervision
- Aerospace marketplace knowledge is preferred
