Our Department is responsible for building resilient regional economies and communities, strengthening primary industries, managing the use of regional land, overseeing the state’s mineral and mining resources and ensuring government investment in regional NSW is fair and delivers positive outcomes for local communities and businesses. 

TheRegional Growth NSW Development Corporation(the Corporation) is established under the Growth Centre’s (Development Corporations) Act 1974 to lead the delivery and implementation of the Government’s Special Activation Precincts (SAP) program. 

 About the Role 

The Assistant Program Manager (Construction) – Special Activation Precincts assists the Infrastructure Program Manager in the management and control of infrastructure delivery across the Special Activation Precincts portfolio. The Assistant Program Manager is required to develop partnerships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including other Governmental Departments, local Councils, utility owners, delivery partners, and contractors, to ensure the successful delivery of the Precincts.  The role requires the use of project management frameworks, tools, and protocols to ensure consistency and effectiveness of the Corporation’s project delivery capability and project outcomes.

You will be responsible for: 

  • Ensuring risk and cost management procedures are being implemented across the infrastructure projects. 
  • Contributing to project development including market sounding, contract documentation development and tender reviews. 
  • Contributing to the development of project plans.
  • Supporting the Infrastructure Program Manager in managing resources and assisting with project delivery to ensure project outcomes are achieved.  
  • Providing input to project scheduling, contributing to planning and risk workshop sessions. 
  • Proactively providing advice and information on emerging project issues, and presenting recommendations to support project delivery in line with established plans, budgets, timeframes, policy objectives, and other project priorities.
  • Supporting the Infrastructure Program Manager in delivering project reporting and ensuring accountability within the RGDC Infrastructure Team 

About You 

To be successful in this role, you will be proactive and self-motivated.  You will use your initiative to anticipate program risks and advise the Infrastructure Program Manager accordingly.  You are able to ruthlessly prioritise your time and are comfortable delivering to tight deadlines.  You have a keen eye for detail and take pride in your ability to produce high-quality written reports.  You are somebody who actively seeks to develop professionally and progress in your career.  You are a genuine Team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude who can operate autonomously when required.    

 Key knowledge and experience 

  • Experience in project and contract management on infrastructure projects.  
  • A sound understanding of project risk management. 
  • Experience in pre-construction documentation development would be highly desirable.  

 Essential requirements  

  • Qualifications and/or demonstrable experience in project management delivering civil infrastructure.
