About Energy and Sustainability Services

Our mission at Schneider Electric Energy and Sustainability Services (ESS) is to improve the infrastructure of our Clients' facilities in a manner that will allow them to better serve their immediate associates and communities and, at the same time, become better stewards of the environment. Our thorough assessment of their buildings will define issues, identify energy retrofits, and calculate operational cost savings that will fund these much needed, and, at times, critical upgrades.

With its roots in Design/Build and traditional Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing (MEP) construction contracting, the Schneider Electric Energy and Sustainability Services Estimating and Cost Control group has extensive experience in making accurate and detailed cost estimates for projects in all major markets to include governmental, military, commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities.

Our cost estimating personnel have requisite backgrounds in project management, system design, and cost estimating. This gives them the appropriate perspectives on the raw costs of equipment, materials, and labor as well as a firm understanding of issues relating to constructability and coordinating project schedules.

As an estimator within Energy and Sustainability Services, you will be part of a highly collaborative team that offers opportunities to establish best practices and industry standards while following a path of personal growth.

Position Summary

To help Schneider Electric achieve the mission described above, the Estimator is responsible for supporting the project team by participating in multiple aspects of the bid/estimating process, including but not limited to review of plans and specifications, soliciting and negotiating pricing with subcontractors and or suppliers, quantity take-off and pricing. The role is highly collaborative and will work closely with internal teams, external suppliers, owners, architects, and engineers. - Rough Order of Magnitude/Preliminary/Request for Proposal Estimates: an opinion of potential cost of an Energy Conservation Measure or project with only minimal scope

- Conceptual Estimate: an estimate based on limited scope used to consider Energy Conservation Measure economic / technical feasibility

- Estimate Grade Design (EGD): A professional estimate that is based on a sufficient amount of engineered scope and will be used to book a project

- Construction level: a "check" estimate based on a full set of plans and specifications that have been issued to contractors for bidding.

  • Advise Project teams of need for actual subcontractor quotes for these trades and other specialty work to complete the Estimate Grade Design estimate
  • Estimate Grade Design Estimate Specific tasks
