Responsible for learning and directly assisting the Project & Construction Management Team in managing various types of Engineering/Construction Projects and completing assigned projects specifically in the engineering disciplines of Civil, Structural, Geotechnical or Electrical Engineering or in the field of Construction Management. Responsibilities/Duties:
Participate in specific assigned projects
Attend and contribute to department and organizational meetings
Rotate through department to learn different areas and operational focuses
Act in accordance with Port Houston core values (respect, excellence, accountability, diligence, and you).
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Eligibility Requirements:
Students must be currently enrolled in and have already completed two semesters in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Civil, Structural, Geotechnical or Electrical Engineering or Construction Management
2027/2028 graduation status preferred (junior/senior level)
May 2026 graduates are not eligible, unless unless enrolling in graduate program in Fall 2026
Students must either attend a Houston area college/university or have a permanent residence within a commutable distance
Students must be in good academic standing to apply for an internship; a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.7 is preferred
Students must be able to work throughout the established (11 to 12) week program dates
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrates strong organizational and analytical skills
Demonstrates attention to detail
Ability to multi-task
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to listen to staff and understand their expectations and requirements
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
