Description
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Project Manager in the planning, coordination, execution, and closeout of construction projects. The APM is responsible for assisting in schedule management, subcontractor coordination, procurement tracking, cost control, document management, and communication between field and office teams.
This role is designed as a developmental leadership position within the Construction Department and serves as a pipeline to Project Manager.
At Resolute Elevator, the APM will support modular elevator installations, modernization projects, and new installations, working cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Procurement, Accounting, and Field Operations to ensure safe, code-compliant, on-time, and on-budget execution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Documentation
- Assist in project startup activities, including contract review and scope clarification
- Support development and maintenance of project schedules
- Assist with submittal logs, RFIs, change order logs, and procurement tracking
- Maintain organized digital project files (drawings, contracts, correspondence, permits)
- Coordinate document control between field, engineering, and subcontractors
2. Cost Control & Financial Oversight
- Assist in tracking project budgets and committed costs
- Support monthly cost-to-complete forecasting
- Review vendor and subcontractor invoices for accuracy and alignment with progress
- Assist Accounting with billing documentation and lien waivers
- Track change orders and assist with pricing and documentation
3. Field & Subcontractor Coordination
- Support the Project Manager in coordinating field labor and subcontractors
- Attend project meetings and document meeting minutes
- Assist in resolving scheduling conflicts and material delays
- Track long-lead materials and coordinate delivery timelines
- Support safety compliance coordination in partnership with Field Management
4. Procurement & Logistics
- Assist in issuing purchase orders and tracking material status
- Coordinate with Production and Warehouse for material availability
- Monitor delivery schedules and confirm site readiness
- Support inventory reconciliation as required
5. Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Maintain professional communication with general contractors, owners, consultants, and inspectors
- Assist with preparation of project status reports
- Support permit, inspection, and closeout documentation
6. Quality & Compliance
- Support compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME A17.1, NEC, NFPA as applicable to elevator construction)
- Assist in coordinating inspections and documentation required for jurisdictional approval
- Help ensure work aligns with company quality standards and ISO-based documentation processes
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred (equivalent construction experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
- 1–3 years of experience in construction project support or field coordination
- Working knowledge of construction documents and contracts
- Basic understanding of scheduling principles (CPM preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with ERP/project management software (NetSuite, Procore, or equivalent preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in commercial construction
- Exposure to mechanical or elevator systems
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience supporting multi-project environments
