Description

PURPOSE

The Paving Supervisor is primarily responsible for arranging and overseeing the work of one paving crew, operating the screed on the paver, and coordinating the activities of workers involved in spreading, rolling, tamping and patching asphalt on highways, streets, parking lots, aircraft landing strips, etc.  



Requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Paving Supervisor provides overall on-site leadership on a project site.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
  • Maintaining safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Acts as the main point of contact on a construction project site.
  • Coordinates, plans and supervises field staff and subcontractors for the assigned project.
  • Liaises with other departments, plants, etc. to ensure all required materials, equipment and inspection support the project schedule.
  • Optimizes operational procedures
  • Chooses techniques and defines asphalt means and methods.
  • Maintains MOT certifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, & ABILITIES

  • Required Education:  High school diploma or equivalent
  • Required Work Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of materials, maintenance and operation of equipment required with an emphasis on asphalt and paving. This position will include paving equipment operating.
    • Ability to inspire, and obtain results through others.
    • Ability to understand work directions, and to communicate effectively with management and fellow employees.
    • Strong safety-orientation
    • Ability maintain composure and professionalism under pressure.
  • Required Computer and Software Skills:  Basic Windows Proficiency.
  • Travel RequirementsLocal travel

    • Ability to work independently and to manage multiple projects at the same time. 
    • Strong organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks. 
    • Strong communication, training and presentation skills. 
    • Ability to work and to contribute to a dynamic team environment.

  • Scope: The scope of this role will vary widely based on the scope of the overall project. It has 8 - 9 Direct Reports, and covers 1 product line; asphalt construction.
