What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking professional construction workers (job title: Facilities Technologist) with demonstrated skills and experience in performing construction activities involving carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, structural. You will use your reasoning abilities, self-determination / drive, and strong customer service skills to perform your duties.
On any given day, you will be called on to:
- Perform a variety of construction-related functions.
- Read engineering drawings, blueprints, standards and specifications in order to install facility systems and components to specifications and code.
- Demolish, install, test, and repair of facility structures, systems, and components.
- Understand and follow Universal Building Codes during construction.
- Use and maintain tools of the trade to perform work.
- Use mathematical skills to measure, mark, cut, and lay out material and erect or assemble systems.
- Perform general facility systems or equipment maintenance or repairs as required.
- Collaborate and work as a team with other workers to produce finished construction projects timely and efficiently.
- Follow all safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment.
- Support operational capabilities within facilities, including construction safety, permitting, document control, space management, energy monitoring, and information technology applications.
- Understand and adhere to all applicable Sandia National Laboratories and industry regulatory and safety guidelines.
- Ensure all results, materials, processes, and final products meet quality specifications and are completed according to established requirements.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range
$74,400 - $143,300
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require
- High school diploma plus five or more years of directly related experience in one or more skilled construction trades, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Selected applicants must have a valid driver's license when offered employment, and maintain a valid driver's license during employment.
- If offered the position, you may be required to demonstrate your fitness to perform certain physical aspects of the position, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-Level Security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire
- Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Ability to understand and implement engineering standards and specifications.
- Trained and able to use the tools of the trade for the skill position.
- Understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configurations, and policies and procedures.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of staff and management.
About Our Team
Our team of skilled in-house construction workers, complemented by our partner construction contractors, and teamed with our in-house engineers provide a variety of construction services including installations, renovations, modifications, and demolitions.
Posting Duration
This posting will be open for application submissions for a minimum of seven (7) calendar days, including the 'posting date'. Sandia reserves the right to extend the posting date at any time.
Security Clearance
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
