The HDPE Welder is responsible for fusing and installing high-density polyethylene (HDPE) piping systems used in golf course irrigation networks. This role ensures that all HDPE joints, fittings, and pipeline layouts meet industry standards for strength, durability, and leak-free performance. The HDPE Welder plays a key part in constructing reliable water-delivery systems essential for golf course operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform HDPE welding using approved methods, including butt fusion, electrofusion, socket fusion, or extrusion welding, depending on project requirements. These methods create monolithic, leak-proof joints essential for irrigation systems.
- Set up, operate, and adjust fusion welding machines to ensure correct heating temperatures, alignment, pressure, and cooling cycles for high-quality welds.
- Inspect and maintain welding equipment before and after use; monitor for malfunctions and perform basic troubleshooting to ensure continuous, safe operation.
- Verify pipe placement, measurements, and joint alignment to ensure correct depth and grade as required for golf course irrigation layouts.
- Collaborate with irrigation designers, pipe layers, and equipment operators to coordinate installation sequencing and ensure efficient project flow.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures, including use of PPE, safe handling of heat sources, and adherence to equipment-specific safety requirements.
- Document welding activities, including weld logs, pipe heat numbers, machine settings, and environmental conditions when required by project specifications.
- Ensure all welds meet industry standards for structural integrity and durability, helping create long-lasting, corrosion-resistant irrigation systems.
Work Environment:
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 100 pounds
- Regular walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, stretching, and standing
- Ability to work extended hours outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Travel required to job sites across the United States
- Overtime with Saturday work required
What we Look For:
- Individuals who work safely and have the courage to speak up if you see unsafe behavior or conditions. ?
- Experience in HDPE pipe welding or similar thermoplastic welding applications.
- Familiarity with butt fusion, electrofusion, or extrusion welding equipment and procedures.
- Ability to read plans, grades, and irrigation system layouts.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions typical of construction environments.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
