Job Description Summary

Sunbelt Rentals - The fastest growing rental business in Canada

Sunbelt Rentals is seeking an experienced and safety‑driven Road Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will travel to customer sites to perform diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and complex repairs on a wide variety of general rental equipment-ensuring our customers receive equipment that is safe, reliable, and ready to work.

This position works a 7 on / 7 off rotation.

If you are not local to Fort McMurray, you will be responsible for your own travel and associated costs.

What You Will Do

As a Road Mechanic, you will independently service and repair equipment on job sites in the safest and most efficient manner possible. Work includes:

• Performing preventive maintenance and advanced diagnostics
• Completing complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repairs
• Operating in a fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities
• Ensuring equipment reliability and minimizing customer downtime
• Representing Sunbelt Rentals professionally at customer locations

Our general rental fleet includes Aerial Work Platforms (AWP), construction tools, light equipment, and depending on location, generators, pumps, HVAC units, and oil & gas-related equipment.

Education & Experience

You will be set up for success if you have:

• High school diploma or GED (required)
• Trade school or equivalent mechanical training (preferred)
• Prior experience as a mechanic on diesel engines, heavy equipment, or rental industry equipment (strongly preferred)
• A valid Red Seal Heavy Duty certification is an asset

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to supply your own standard mechanic's tools
• Advanced knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision
• Comfortable working indoors/outdoors in various weather conditions

Physical Requirements

This role requires:

• Bending, squatting, crouching, and reaching

Base Pay Range
42.09 - 60.50
