ABOUT CLEVELAND COUNTRY CLUBCleveland, MS | Cleveland Country Club is a private, member owned club in Cleveland, MS. The club currently has 410 members and approximately 240 golfing members. Cleveland has a population of approximately 12,000 and is in the Mississippi Delta and is home to Delta State University. The club is active and vibrant with activities daily and a successful dining operation. The Club is considered the social hub of the town as there is no competition for golf or tennis.
Members enjoy nice amenities. The 12,000-square foot clubhouse offers many areas for dining, both formal and casual. Casual dining is the most popular choice of the members. Dining on the porch offers a scenic view out over the putting green. The clubhouse is host to many wedding receptions, private parties, business meetings and civic club meetings. Social activities are a big part of the club. The Board of Directors are in the process of approving a clubhouse renovation project.
Golf:
Cleveland Country Club members enjoy the 18-hole course consisting of Champion Bermuda greens and 419 Bermuda fairways. The course is 6700 from back tees, 6400 from middle tees, and 5400 from senior and lady tees. CCC stayed very active hosting 25 events this year including 37th annual 4-ball, 17th Sonny Andrews MGA Junior Championship, 11th annual 6-man scramble, MS Lady's State 4-ball, Darrell Foreman/DSU intercollegiate, 3 Delta senior events, and many other charitable tournaments throughout the year. The golf course has recently upgraded 60% of all cart paths and the entire irrigation system.
Clubhouse: The versatile 12,000 square foot clubhouse includes: Members' bar, the 19th hole, Men's bar, Men's locker room, ballroom, dining on the porch and the formal dining room. The clubhouse can and does accommodation with private parties, wedding receptions, business meetings and other club events.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Title: Golf Course Superintendent
Reports to: The golf course superintendent typically reports directly to one of the following individuals:
General manager, Green chairman , Owner, Director of golf, Director of golf courses/director of parks and recreation, Club president
In all instances, the golf course superintendent coordinates operations with the club manager and golf professional. In membership club organizations, the golf course superintendent also communicates and coordinates with all relevant membership groups and committees.

Position Description: The Golf course superintendent will be entrusted with the maintenance, operations and management of a golf course. The Golf course superintendent will carefully manage the maintenance inputs to the golf course while conserving and protecting natural resources. They directly influence the playing areas and landscapes with which golfers interact.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS
The golf course superintendent assumes responsibility for managing and maintaining golf course properties, which may include:
- The golf course(s)

- Maintenance equipment
- Clubhouse grounds and landscaping
- Tennis courts, swimming pool and other recreational facilities
- Open spaces, wooded areas, unused acreage and areas outside the perimeter fence
- Sod farm and nursery
- Other properties as specified in writing by the superintendent's supervisor

Additional Functions
- Construction, renovation and/or reconstruction of such properties, whether performed by maintenance staff or outside contractors.
- Prepares the annual budget for the maintenance and capital improvement of course properties. The superintendent formulates the annual maintenance and capital budgets to implement board policies established in accordance with the long-range plan and defined maintenance standards.
- Interviews, hires, trains and supervises a staff of employees for the purpose of maintaining the properties. The superintendent has authority to terminate employment of subordinates.
- Plans all maintenance and project work, applying his or her agronomic and administrative expertise to achieve the agreed-upon maintenance standards and long-range goals.
- Oversee the scheduling and routing of personnel and equipment to accomplish the work. The superintendent frequently inspects the golf course and related areas to evaluate how well management standards are being achieved and to effect changes in management programs.
- Acquires equipment and purchases necessary supplies to maintain the golf course and other properties. The superintendent is responsible for inventory control and oversees the equipment maintenance programs. The superintendent approves all expenditures and exercises cost control measures to keep, as nearly as possible, operating and capital expenses in line with the approved budgets.
- Keeps accurate and complete records on payroll, inventory, weather data, maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, etc.
- Communicates regularly with other members of the top management group to discuss activities, goals, plans and member/customer input.
Including, but not limited to, the following:
- Advanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices; a working knowledge of golf facility construction principles, practices, and methods; and a thorough understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf.
- A high degree of administrative and executive ability, especially in terms of problem-solving and decision-making.
- Proficiency in computer use, knowledge of Microsoft Office, and other applications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of current federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting the management of golf course operations (including, but not limited to, employment, safety and environmental standards, laws and regulations).
- Participation in continuing education opportunities such as seminars, workshops, correspondence courses, field days and trade shows.
- May require current state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator.
