POSITION SUMMARY
The Construction & Engineering Project Manager is responsible for projects involving industrial and heavy commercial construction of new assets along with modification and refurbishment of existing assets for Colonial Group subsidiaries. This role requires high-level autonomy, critical thinking, problem-solving, and direct ownership of all project phases. The PM will serve as the primary point of contact with internal stakeholders and management for assigned projects.
The position requires both an eye for detail to effectively scope, estimate, plan and schedule upcoming construction projects while managing day-to-day field coordination, quality control, and schedule for the work in progress.
JOB EXPECTATIONS/DUTIES
• Serve as the Primary point of contact with internal stakeholders and management for all assigned projects.
• Correspond directly with Terminal customers for construction progress updates, technical feedback, and related communication.
• Foresee and mitigate risk in terms of safety, budget, and efficiency as it relates to the construction projects responsible for.
• Define project scope, budget, and schedule.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and the project team to determine operational requirements.
• Develop detailed system designs and scope of work for construction based on product specification, safe handling practices, engineering principles, industry standards, and operational feedback.
• Prepare detailed project schedules and work plans for construction.
• Plan and implement the project based on established designs, specifications, scope, budget, and schedule
• Provide detailed preconstruction estimates to Management based on conceptual designs and operational feedback.
• Gather budget pricing from subcontractors and assimilate it into the overall project cost estimate for management review and/or approval.
• Prepare contractor bid packages for solicitation of competitive bid pricing for subcontractors and general contractors.
• Review, approve, and execute all contracts and proposals:
• Development, review, and execution of Construction and Engineering service contracts along with vendor purchases.
• Final review and approval of high-dollar proposals to include both contracting services and vendor equipment purchases.
• Prepare clear and concise bid comparisons for management's review and approval.
• Facilitate procurement of materials and equipment and ensure proper adherence to specifications
• Organize and coordinate the project team, including internal labor assignments, required subcontractors, and operating department representatives throughout the duration of the project.
• Coordinate contractor mobilization, material/equipment deliveries, safety training/credentialing, etc..
• Conduct and document routine field inspections of contractor's safety, quality, and progress.
• Review, process, and approve contractor invoices and progress billing.
• Prepare clear, concise progress reports and updated schedules for presentation to management based on field inspections of work progress and contractor communication.
• Update management daily based on field inspections of work progress and contractor communication.
• Handle various other assigned activities as needed to assist upper management or the terminal as a whole.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field is required.
• 5 7 years management experience in industrial or heavy commercial construction is required.
• Overall proficiency with computers and software (Microsoft Office, Excel, Project, and Word) is required.
• Proficiency and working experience with AutoCAD is required.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is required.
• Must meet criteria for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Experience with liquid handling systems and HAZMAT materials is a plus but not required.
• Strong commitment to and be knowledgeable of Industrial Safety, as it relates to construction activities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
